Washington Academy of Languages

Location and description of area: WAL is located in the the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle, next to the beautiful waterfront canal. This central location provides students with easy access to shops, restaurants, major tourist attractions, galleries, museums and sports arenas. Businesses, governmental and academic institutions surround the area. Both summer and winter recreation areas, including skiing, snowboarding and boating are easily accessible. Canada is a few hours north of Seattle by bus, train or car.

Total student population: Averages 1,700 students annually.

International student population: About 300 are from other countries.

Programs offered: WAL offers programs in:
English as a Second Language (including specialized programs), World Languages (including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian and Vietnamese) and Graduate Certificate Programs in Teaching English as a Second Language. WAL's programs in World Languages and TESL are offered in cooperation with local universities.
