Location and description of area: Located in the northwest corner of the United States in the city of Tacoma, Washington, PLU enjoys a mild maritime climate and close proximity to the mountains, the Pacific Ocean, the city of Seattle, and Vancouver, Canada. Students might be found enjoying the arts and theatre in Tacoma or Seattle, hiking and skiing on Mt. Rainier, or viewing the ocean from the Washington coastline. PLU is just 45 minutes from the SeaTac International Airport, and one block from a bus depot.

Programs offered: As an accredited comprehensive university with 36 majors, PLU offers bachelors degrees through professional programs in the Schools of Business, Education and Nursing, as well as many majors in the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and the School of Physical Education. Accredited masters degrees are offered in business, education, nursing, family counseling and creative writing. PLU follows a 4-1-4 academic calendar with two four-month semesters (fall and spring) and a one-month January Term.
